Tips for Keeping Every Room of Your Home Clean

Spread the love

There are few things better than a completely clean home that you can enjoy with your family. While there probably isn’t anyone who doesn’t want a clean home, the challenge for many people is finding a way to get it clean and keep it that way. With a little bit of planning and a lot of consistency, you can keep every room of your home clean all week long.

One of the first things that you’ll need to do is make a commitment to getting organized. Before you can make any progress, it must first happen in your mind. You must make a decision to keep each room in your home organized, even when you don’t quite feel like making it happen. The good news is that keeping things organized doesn’t mean everything always has to be perfect.

The way to jumpstart your plan of keeping your home clean is to establish a routine. This means you’ll have tasks that you perform based on a schedule that you create. For example, you can make a decision to clean the kitchen each night. This doesn’t mean that a deep cleaning will take place, it just means that you’ll complete a basic cleaning, such as rinsing the dishes, placing them in the dishwasher, and clearing off your countertops. You can designate one night a week or the weekend for deeper cleaning, like mopping the floor and disinfecting the countertops. As you go through the week, there’s a good chance that emergencies will arise and you will drop off of your schedule. This might mean things get a little cluttered, which is perfectly fine. The key is to pick back up as soon as possible and continue with your schedule without worrying about what wasn’t done yesterday or over the past week. Instead of trying to catch up, you can stick with the plan of doing a little bit most days of the week based on your predetermined schedule. If you stick with your routine, you’ll notice that things start to fall into place and it doesn’t take as much effort as it did before you had a routine.

One principle that works well for some people is making a commitment to put things away right after you’re done with them. Whether it’s a cup or a pair of shoes, enforcing this rule in your home can immediately decrease the amount of clutter that you have around the house. Another rule might be to ensure everything is put away before you go to bed at night.

When you wake up in the morning, you should start your day by making up your bed. There’s a psychological component to making up your bed every morning. It’s a habit that can start your day off on the right foot and establish a mindset of getting things done that sets the pace for the rest of the day.
